Fair Housing Services
Housing discrimination is prohibited by federal and state law and the City of Mountain View supports fair housing rights. Fair housing is defined as the ability of persons of similar income levels to have the same housing choices regardless of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, marital status, ancestry and any arbitrary discrimination.
If you suspect you’ve been denied housing due to discrimination, Project Sentinel, a local nonprofit agency, funded by the City of Mountain View to provide fair housing services in Mountain View, may be able to help.
Project Sentinel can counsel you on fair housing rights, investigate your fair housing complaint, and explain your options. In addition, Project Sentinel will communicate with the owner or manager of the property, inform the owner or manager of the law, and if necessary, refer you to a fair housing attorney for legal assistance.
If you are a property owner or manager, Project Sentinel can explain your rights and responsibilities under Fair Housing law. There is no charge for any of these services.
