What's new in the Building Division?

Effective January 1, 2011
As of January 1, 2011 there will be the new 2010 California Building Codes in effect for any project submitted after that date.  You can check www.bsc.ca.org to obtain your copies of the new codes.

Effective July 1, 2010
PEX Regulations contained in the California Plumbing Code are Repealed (California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 5, section 604.11 and Table 6-4).

Effective January 1, 2010
Title 24, Part 6, California Energy Code (2008 Edition) went into effect January 1, 2010, and supersede the 2005 Standards. Projects that apply for a building permit on or after this date must comply with the 2008 Standards. You can download the new
2008 California Energy Code requirements at the California Energy Commission web site.

Effective December 27, 2007
Fire Sprinklers are required in structures where the roof area is 3,600 square feet or larger. This would include new structures, residential buildings and existing building that may change to a more intensified use. MVCC Sec 14.3.4, Chapter 9, Sec. 903.2.
