Alzheimer's Screenings
Free behavioral screenings offered on the fourth Wednesday of each month. PLEASE NOTE: This screening is not a medical screening, only a behavioral analysis.


Blood Pressure Check

Every Friday, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Provided by volunteer nurses.


Brown Bag
Brown Bag pick-up is every Tuesday, 9:30 -10:45 a.m. Pre-registration is necessary. Please see the front desk for more information or visit the Brown Bag program on Tuesday, between 9:30— 10:45 a.m. Sponsored by the
Second Harvest Food Bank. For more information, please call 1-800-984-3663. 


Eyeglass Repair

Free eyeglass adjustments, repairs, and general advice every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.


Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP)

Second Monday and Fourth Tuesday of each month. Medical insurance, long-term care, Medicaid, & Medigap counseling. 


Notary Service

First Thursday of each month.


Nutrition Program

Lunch is served Monday-Friday at 11:45 a.m., sign in by 11:15 a.m. Suggested donation is $3.00 for those individuals 60+; $8.00 for those individuals under 60. For information, call (650) 964-6586. Sponsored by Community Services Agency.


Senior Adult Legal Assistance (SALA) 
Appointments available on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Clients must be 60+ years and a Santa Clara County resident. Services provided by volunteer attorneys or paralegal personnel. Legal assistance provided for social security, medicare, housing, landlord issues, power of attorney for health care, elder abuse, consumer problems and simple wills.


Tax Preparation Assistance
 
During the months of February, March and April, volunteers from AARP will be at the Senior Center to assist with Federal and State Tax returns. Space is limited, and an appointment is necessary.

Stamps and Mail

A maximum of five 49¢ postage stamps can be purchased at the front counter. There is also an outgoing mail basket.

El Camino Hospital offers services including support groups for many medical issues, health library, lectures, classes, Vial of Life, Communi-Call, Roadrunners and other health services. Call (650) 940-7210.

DMV Driving Test Study Materials
Copies of the California Driver's Handbook and the Senior Guide for Safe Driving are available in multiple languages at the front counter of the Senior Center. There are no sample tests available.

Senior Home Repair

Low-cost handyman services to Mountain View homeowners 50+ years. Services include electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, yard cleaning, and installation of safety & security devices. Call (650) 289-5426. Offered by Avenidas


Senior Services Directory Available
The Council on Aging has developed a Senior Services Directory for Santa Clara County. This directory offers resources for seniors, family members and caregivers. Senior Case Manager
Consultation with seniors & families regarding life changes. On the third Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m., representatives from the Community Services Agency of Mountain View and Los Altos will be on-site at the Mountain View Senior Center to answer your questions. A different topic each month; check the newsletter to see this month's topic. Call 650-903-6330 for an appointment.

Meals on Wheels
Weekly delivery of meals is available through the Sourcewise and the Health Trust to homebound seniors 60+ years. Participant donation suggested. Call Sourcewise at (408) 350-3200 option 4 or the Health Trust at (408) 961-9870.

Transportation

VTA & Caltrain
Valley bus and train schedules are available in the lobby of the Senior Center.

The #35 bus stops at the corner of California & Escuela Ave. weekdays from the Mountain View View Transportation Center on Castro & Evelyn Ave. The #34 bus runs from San Antonio Shopping Center to downtown Mountain View with a stop at the Senior Center. Please call VTA at (408) 321-2300 or use the convenient Trip Planner for specific route information.


VTA Transit Discount Clipper Cards
SENIOR DISCOUNT CARD
This card is for passengers 65 years of age and older. Applications for the clipper card are available at the front desk of the Senior Center. 
(RTC) CLIPPER CARD
This card is for disabled passengers 64 years of age or younger. A photo is required. Available for $3.

Outreach Transportation Agency
Outreach Transportation Agency provides rides for qualified applicants who are unable to use public transit. Must apply to Outreach. Call 1-800-400-6222.


Roadrunners
Rides are provided for within 10 miles of El Camino Hospital on weekdays, 8:00-3:45 p.m. Fee based on miles driven. Call (650) 940-7016. Sponsored by El Camino Hospital.
