City-Wide Garage Sale and Community Yard Sale

Welcome Shoppers!  The City-wide Garage Sale  (at Homes) is usally held on the first weekend in May, and the Community Yard Sale (at Rengstorff) is usually held on the second weekend in May.  Both events are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. but are being held on separate weeks to give you more shopping opportunities.  Most of the home garage sales are open later than advertised and many on Sunday.

What's the difference between the garage sale and the yard sale?

  • The garage sale is held at homes throughout Mountain View and typically has larger items such as furniture and appliances.
  • The yard sale is held at Rengstorff Park where you will find smaller items and food vendors.

City-Wide Garage Sale

To help you plan your shopping trip for the City-wide Garage Sale, a Map of all registered garage sales and list of items will be available online here, and printed copies at City Hall Lobby during business hours (500 Castro Street), at the Library above-ground parking lot on Franklin, and at Chase Bank parking lot on the Friday before the garage sale. Sorry, no maps will be available at City Hall after hours due to the A La Carte & Art Festival street closures.  (Sorry for the date conflicts, but the Central Business Association changed the festival date after the City's garage sale event was already scheduled and advertised).

The online version of the map and list allows you to electronically search for specific items from either your personal computer or PDA mobile device. You can also search by street or neighborhood and print maps to help you plan your shopping trip.

By planning your trip and linking your garage sales together, you can save time, gas, and reduce vehicle emissions to help our environment. And by shopping for used items, you will help our community keep reusable items out of the landfill and conserve our natural resources. One good use deserves another!
